Does KanBo have any custom code running on SP farms?

KanBo has been built as a “SharePoint provider hosted App” – No executable code on SharePoint. (https://dev.office.com/sharepoint/docs/sp-add-ins/choose-patterns-for-developing-and-hosting-your-sharepoint-add-in) The Microsoft architecture forbids that any code is run on SharePoint when you deploy an App on SharePoint 2013 or higher. KanBo is built accordingly with the Microsoft App Model for SharePoint standards – that is why you can install it also on Office 365.
